brightonwave green tourism policy
At
brightonwave our aspiration and aim is to offer all our guests a
'green tourism' experience.
We are committed to providing a good quality service
whilst minimising the environmental impact of our business activities.
A symbol of this commitment is our membership of the
Green Tourism Business Scheme. The scheme provides accreditation and
encouragement for tourism businesses to reduce the environmental
impact of their activities. By encouraging sustainable practices the
scheme ensures the continued enjoyment of the environment around us
for future generations.
We are
recycling as much as possible, being aware and adapting our energy
use, avoiding wasting water and purchasing fair trade products.
Some of the main steps we have taken to reduce our impact are:
-
Development of a towel and bedding
‘protect’ policy
-
Recycling of waste materials where
possible
-
Purchase of energy efficient
electrical appliances & monitoring their use
-
Refurbishment of building to include
thermostatically controlled radiators & draft proofing all sash
windows
-
Phased introduction of fair trade
merchandise
-
Acquired
a knowledge of other local businesses interested in sustainability
issues
Local green tourism:
We are proud of our green tourism
credentials and providing sustainable green tourism to Brighton &
Sussex is important to us. We can offer advice on the many historical
and areas of natural beauty in Brighton and its surrounding area. For
ideas of things to do on foot please see our 'What's On' page which
includes links to local museums and places of interest. For those
that want to explore further a field we can also help with walking &
cycling options.
Walking –
Sussex, and in particular the South Downs surrounding
Brighton, offers some of the finest
walking country in the British Isles. We are happy to recommend some
popular scenic
walking
routes in the area.
Cycling - discover the city &
surrounding countryside by bicycle. We are happy to recommend bicycle
hire for you and recommend local cycle routes. Whilst we do not have
secure bicycle storage areas you are welcome to lock your bicycle
against the railings at the front of our property.
Daytrips from
Brighton - we can help you with details of trains and busses that will take you
to your destination – they are usually quicker than taking your own
car and help reduce pollution on the streets of
Brighton.
There are many interesting shops &
restaurants in Brighton catering towards sustainable & environmentally
friendly trade, a few of our favourites include:
Infinity foods (organic/vegetarian
food & environmentally friendly household cleaning agents)
The Vegetarian Shoe shop (non leather
shoes & accessories)
The Hemp shop (hemp clothing &
accessories)

designer twist)
